Describe your role at UAS Labs?
I am a Training Specialist at UAS. As the Training Specialist for the organization, I build programs that help our employees develop in their roles and motivate them to be confident in the work that they do. We are currently building curricula for each role in the organization to structure job-specific training and establish methods to measure learning. We are also in the process of implementing a Learning Management System to help us organize, track, and document our training. This system will allow us to offer more learning opportunities to our employees than ever before!
Where did you go to school and what did you study?
I have a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy music, traveling, spending time with my family, cooking, and gardening. Our favorite place to vacation is St. John USVI, which is the most beautiful laid-back place. We enjoy exploring the island, hiking, snorkeling, and learning about the history. My husband, Kevin, and I also like to fly out for quick weekend trips to various cities to see our favorite bands play.
Chile Rellenos and Nachos – and pretty much any other Mexican food!
What do you enjoy most about working at UAS Labs?
I love our team dynamics and culture. The organization has a collaborative, family-like feel. Every day, I am so impressed with how our team has come together and what they have managed to accomplish!
What was your first job?
In high school, I worked as a Veterinary Assistant for a nearby Vet Clinic and also delivered pizzas for a local pizza joint.
What is something you have done or plan to do on your “bucket list”?
Ocean life is mesmerizing to me and snorkeling in the ocean is the number one thing I enjoy doing when we visit St. John. You can see amazing things right off shore like sea turtles, squid, octopus, baby sharks, beautiful fish and more. I would like to take it up a notch and learn how to scuba dive someday. It would be fun to venture farther out into the ocean and explore more of that world.
I have two Abyssinian cats named Winston and Crosby, two baby Savannah kittens named Dembe and Ty-Ty, and a big goldfish named Goldy.
You can have unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life, what is it?
Time. The hours, days, years fly by so fast. I have to remind myself to not get caught up in the busy day-to-day, but to slow down and enjoy the moment.
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
I’d spend the time reading to my kids and doing all of the fun art projects with them that never seem to fit into our day.
