Bacillus coagulans (a spore forming bacteria)
Spores are unique in form and function! While most bacteria have a difficult time staying alive in high-heat and harsh conditions, Bacillus coagulans can thrive. In their spore form, these bacteria remain dormant, encased in an outer shell allowing them to withstand the harshest environments. When they encounter the perfect conditions of temperature, pH, and moisture in the large intestine, they revert to their active form. This lifecycle allows the Bacillus coagulans to act in the preferred location necessary to provide digestive and immune support.
Based on this composition, B. coagulans bacteria have the potential to survive extreme processing, shipping and storage in addition to stomach acid and bile in the digestive tract. That said, not all strains are the same. When studied, the ProDURA® brand of Bacillus coagulans was found to have a greater heat resistance than other, well-established, competitors in the marketplace.
The unique characteristics of ProDura® allow it to be included in everyday products that would not otherwise be able to maintain the livelihood of probiotics. The durability makes it ideal for use in food, gummy and extrusion applications where thermal stability in a probiotic organism is required.
ProDURA® Bacillus coagulans have been shown to:
- Support digestive health and a balanced gut microbiome
- Provide immune support
- Support women’s health by minimizing recurrence of vaginal infections
- Provide oral health support
